Following the earlier announcement of the Government of the Republic of Covanellis that the Republic would be returning to the micronational community, the Government has produced and put to a vote a new constitution for the Republic. Addressing a range of issues not covered under previous constitutions, the new constitution provides structure to the unique features of the Covanese Parliamentary system, and benefits from bolstered checks and balances to safeguard the integrity of Covanese institutions and democracy.
The new constitution was approved unanimously via a referendum of the people of Covanellis. President Bailey McCahon, who formally introduced the draft of the new Constitution, stated that he hoped it would ensure the continuity of the Covanese governmental system, safeguard the sacred institution of democracy and solidify the powers and rights of the people of Covanellis for many years to come. He also added that the new constitution is extensive by micronational standards and comparable in quality to the constitutions of many established macronations, and is a testament to the resolve, efficiency and professionalism of the Covanese Government and institutions.
